Mumbai, March 5: India stormed into the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after defeating England by seven runs in a thrilling semifinal at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
In the first innings India posted a formidable total of 253 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the charge with a brilliant 89 off 42 balls, playing a crucial role in setting up a challenging target. His aggressive innings was supported by quick contributions from the middle order as India maintained a high run rate throughout the innings.
England fought hard and nearly pulled off the chase, thanks to a spectacular century from Jacob Bethell, who smashed 105 runs off just 48 deliveries. Despite his heroic effort, England fell short of the target as India’s bowlers held their nerve in the final overs. All-rounder Hardik Pandya played a key role with the ball, claiming two crucial wickets and helping restrict England during the death overs. England’s Will Jacks also impressed with the ball earlier in the match, picking up two wickets.
With this victory, India have secured their place in the final of the tournament, keeping their hopes alive for another T20 world title.
