Kolkata: Mohun Bagan dropped crucial points once again in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL), settling for a dramatic draw against United SC after conceding a late equaliser.
United Sports Club took an early lead in the 21st minute when Ronaldo Murmu capitalised on a swift counterattack to put his side ahead. Mohun Bagan responded strongly before halftime, with Bharat Lairenjam finding the equaliser in the 34th minute. Momentum firmly shifted in Bagan’s favour when Bivan Jyoti Laskar scored in stoppage time (45+2’) to give his team a 2–1 advantage heading into the break.
Just when it appeared that Mohun Bagan would secure all three points, United SC struck back in the 89th minute. Rahul Rai unleashed a long-range effort that slipped past the Bagan goalkeeper, who misjudged the flight of the ball, ensuring the match ended in a 2–2 draw.
The result marks another frustrating outing for Deggie Cardozo & Co., who continue to search for consistency following their recent derby setback.
