In a landmark moment for Indian football, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has officially confirmed India as one of the six primary bidders for the 2031 AFC Asian Cup. The announcement, made from the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, marks the first formal step in India’s ambitious quest to host the continent’s premier football tournament for the first time in history.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF), was backed by the Union Sports Ministry, which is set to compete against footballing heavyweights and emerging powerhouses. While the UAE recently withdrew its interest, the remaining field remains formidable.
