Philadelphia, June 18: Brazil have received a timely boost ahead of their must-win FIFA World Cup Group C clash against Haiti, with star forward Neymar returning to training as he continues his recovery from a right calf injury.

The 34-year-old participated in on-field drills with his teammates for the first time since arriving in the United States, raising hopes of an imminent comeback. However, Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti and the team’s medical staff are expected to take a cautious approach, with Neymar still considered doubtful for Friday’s encounter.

Neymar has yet to resume full tactical training, and a place in the starting lineup appears unlikely. Even so, his presence on the training ground has lifted morale within the Brazil camp after the five-time champions were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Morocco in their opening Group C fixture.

Brazil now face added pressure against Haiti, knowing that anything less than victory could leave their hopes of topping the group in jeopardy. Ancelotti is expected to make tactical adjustments following criticism of Brazil’s lacklustre display against Morocco, while senior defender Danilo has urged the squad to respond with greater intensity and focus.

Whether Neymar features from the bench or is rested for a later group-stage match remains uncertain, but Brazil’s all-time leading scorer continues to be the centre of attention as the Seleção seek their first win of the tournament.
